Tree
Law
PURPOSE
The Town of Putnam Valley finds and declares that the preservation of
trees within the Town is necessary to protect the health, safety, and
general welfare of the Town of Putnam Valley. Trees help stabilize the
soil and control water pollution by preventing soil erosion and
flooding, mitigate air pollution, protect organisms that control the
insect population, generate oxygen, yield advantageous micro-climatic
effects, sustain the aesthetic quality of the community, offer a
natural barrier to noise and wind, provide shade from the sun, and
natural habitat for wildlife.
